Ana Yslas

Experienced native Spanish-speaking teacher

Originally from Venezuela, I came to the United States as an adult to learn English after becoming a dentist in my home country. I embarked on a journey to pursue higher education in the United States. I earned a bachelor's degree in Public Health and a master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Soon, I will complete my second master's degree in Educational Leadership by the spring of 2025.

I am a licensed teacher with endorsements in medical terminology, health, anatomy and physiology, World Language, English as a Second Language, and Dual Immersion. I licensed as a medical interpreter in 2014 and worked as a contracted medical interpreter for the University of Utah for five years. My teaching experience includes instructing Spanish at the elementary, junior, and high school levels. I am currently teaching Spanish 1, Concurrent Enrollment Spanish 3, and CE Spanish Bridge at a High School in Utah.

I reside in Layton, UT, with my husband and three children. In my free time, I enjoy reading, expanding my knowledge, developing Spanish curriculum, spending quality time with my family, cooking, exploring new restaurants in the area, and traveling.

I am passionate about teaching Spanish and creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for my students. I look forward to sharing my love for the Spanish language and culture with all of you in our Spanish classes. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your language-learning journey!

Mrs. Yslas is an extremely knowledgeable and kind teacher. My children enjoy her classes and know she cares for them and their successes.
